Tico Tuesday, January 31st

This picture isn't exactly the one I had in mind, but I was too happy and distracted to pull out my camera at the LAM hymn sing we had on Sunday. Imagine a house with a view similar to what you see in the picture, but better, especially because it has the Bible Home in the foreground! Then inside, a few hundred years of missionary service in Costa Rica with willing hearts to sing rich praises to our King. Now that is a beautiful sight! A dear retired missionary who had a hip replacement last year still accompanies us and plays all the hymns from memory. He just wants a hymnal to sing along "all those second verses" and beyond. We all call out our favorite hymns, but make sure everyone has gotten to request at least one before we close down with voices tired but hearts still going strong. How could we not end with the Doxology and then in prayer, feeling a special closeness with one another and our Creator, Savior and Lord whose praises our souls compel us to sing? I wish we could do this more than once a year, but it's always hard to find a time when people are free. So many missionaries, so much going on.
May we all worship while we work, that each action may be a note of praise to the One who has given us work, life and everything else.
Love,
Carrie

PS I dare you to pull out a hymnal this week... or even just look up a hymn online (a real hymnal is better though). I'd love to hear your favorites!

One I heard for the first time on Sunday and loved is below:

O Master, Let me Walk with Thee

1. O Master, let me walk with thee in lowly paths of service free; tell me thy secret; help me bear the strain of toil, the fret of care. 2. Help me the slow of heart to move by some clear, winning word of love; teach me the wayward feet to stay, and guide them in the homeward way. 3. Teach me thy patience; still with thee in closer, dearer company, in work that keeps faith sweet and strong, in trust that triumphs over wrong; 4. In hope that sends a shining ray far down the future's broadening way, in peace that only thou canst give, with thee, O Master, let me live.
